Settings¶
Newsletter → Configuration
The configuration has four tabs:
| Tab | |
|---|---|
| Settings | Eight sub-pages, listed below |
| Modules | The parts you can switch on — see Modules |
| Data collected | What is stored on your installation — see Data protection |
| Help | Links to the manual and the forum |
In the Pro and Enterprise editions the Update access tab is added. It shows which edition your key carries and on which addresses it is valid — without registering your own address the plugin shuts itself down after fourteen days.
The eight settings pages¶
They are in the order you need them when setting up — from the basics through what the visitor sees to the two tools at the end.
| What is there | |
|---|---|
| General | Capability, editor, list lengths, security key |
| Page configuration | The five front-end pages, archive |
| Form configuration | Which fields the subscription form asks for, what happens after subscribing and unsubscribing |
| Defaults | What a new newsletter suggests: layout, accent colour, logo, target groups |
| Sending settings | Mail route, cron, throttling, SMTP |
| Sender and subject | Sender and subject per kind of mail |
| Settings backup | Download everything as a file and read it back |
| Maintenance | Cleanup jobs, renewing keys, uninstalling |
The order changed in 2.0
Up to 1.1.4, „Settings backup" was in second place — a tool between the basics and the defaults, and thus the second item clicked by someone who had set up nothing yet. And „Mail configuration" is now called Sender and subject: the old name stood too close to „Sending settings" next to it, and neither of them said what was on the page.
The addresses have stayed the same. Bookmarks do not break.
Two things that are not here¶
The privacy policy. WordPress manages that itself, under Settings →
Privacy. That is where the link in the subscription form and in the
subscription mails comes from, and where the placeholder %privacyurl% is
fed.
The activation key. It is entered in the plugin row under Plugins, not here. What goes with it, though — edition, registration data and the domain management — is under Update access.
