Plugins

Ahoi is a theme and takes care of the look. Features that a plugin does better, Ahoi deliberately does not rebuild. The rules for themes in the wordpress.org directory require this as well.

Contact form

Ahoi has no form. For a contact form we recommend Contact Form 7 from the WordPress plugin directory. Ahoi adapts its form: the input fields look like the other fields of the site, the submit button like the other buttons, the error messages are easy to read in light and dark, and the fields fit the column on phones too.

Cookie notice, search engines, caching

Ahoi has no cookie notice, no settings for search engines (meta description, sitemap, structured data) and no cache for faster pages. There are plugins for these in the WordPress directory. Ahoi does not get in their way:

• Ahoi itself sets no cookie and loads nothing from other servers (Privacy). Whether your site needs a cookie notice depends on the plugins and services you use otherwise.
• Ahoi outputs clean headings and landmarks; search engine plugins can build on them.
• Ahoi loads no script of its own on the front end except the small script for the light/dark toggle.
