Switching from ShopThemeOne

Ahoi succeeds ShopThemeOne, the previous theme for wpShopGermany. In the WordPress theme list, ShopThemeOne is called "wpShopGermany", in older installations "shopthemeone". ShopThemeOne is no longer developed.

There is no automatic update from ShopThemeOne to Ahoi. The two themes are technically different: ShopThemeOne is a classic theme with settings in the Customizer, Ahoi is a block theme that you design in the Site Editor. Switching is therefore a theme change like to any other theme.

What is lost when switching

In ShopThemeOne With Ahoi
Settings in the Customizer: color scheme, fonts, header and footer area, home page, basket layer, checkout steps no longer apply. Choose colors and fonts under Styles (Colors and fonts), header and footer in the Site Editor.
Slider on the home page is gone. Build the home page from patterns (Setting up the home page).
Cookie notice is gone; use a plugin for it (Plugins).
Your own versions of the shop templates in the theme (folder wpsg_views/ in the theme or child theme) no longer apply; wpShopGermany uses its own templates.
Child theme of ShopThemeOne does not fit Ahoi. If you still need your own files, create a child theme for Ahoi.
Shortcodes [wpsg_productview] and [wpsg_productview_filter] stay. They come from the "Produktansichten" (product views) module, which belongs to wpShopGermany.

Before

  1. Back up: Back up the database and the files of the site.
  2. Take stock: Note down or take screenshots of what is set in the Customizer of ShopThemeOne, above all colors, logo, header and footer area and the home page.
  3. Check your own files: Look in the child theme for files in the wpsg_views/ folder. What they change is lost after switching.
  4. Update wpShopGermany to version 4.6.1 or later. From 4.6.1, wpShopGermany contains the Produktansichten module; the shortcodes then keep working without ShopThemeOne. With an older version they would appear as plain text on the page after switching.

Switching

  1. Install Ahoi, but do not activate it yet.
  2. Under Appearance → Themes, open the Live Preview of Ahoi. It shows the site with Ahoi without visitors seeing anything of it.
  3. Activate Ahoi.
  4. Under wpShopGermany → Konfiguration → Einstellungen → Darstellung, set the look of the shop pages to An das Theme angepasst (With wpShopGermany).
  5. Up to wpShopGermany 4.6: under wpShopGermany → Konfiguration → Einstellungen → Bibliotheken/Includes, turn on fsLightbox (Fullscreen Lightbox) einbinden (JavaScript) so that clicking a product image shows it enlarged in full screen (With wpShopGermany).
  6. Give the basket page the Checkout template (Checkout).
  7. Set up the home page again, for example with the Shop start page pattern (Patterns for the shop).
  8. Check the menu. If ShopThemeOne had a menu, WordPress takes it over into the header as long as there is no menu in the Site Editor yet. Edit it under Appearance → Editor → Navigation (First the menu).
  9. Under wpShopGermany → Konfiguration → Shopinfo, check the address and email; the footer shows them. Link the social icons in the footer to your profiles (Header and footer).
  10. Choose the color palette and font pair closest to your previous look and adjust single colors (Your own colors).

Then click through the most important pages: home page, a product category, a product page, basket and checkout up to just before ordering, each in light and dark and on a phone.

Back to ShopThemeOne

As long as ShopThemeOne stays installed, you can activate it again under Appearance → Themes. Its Customizer settings are still there. In wpShopGermany, set the look of the shop pages back to Klassisch.
